ISS first with protection for latest Linux & Solaris

Business IT - Technology

Enterprise security specialist Internet Security Systems (ISS) - which is soon to become an IBM subsidiary - claims to have become the first enterprise security company to provide server security protection for the latest Linux and Solaris operating systems, Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 4.0 AS/ES and Solaris 10 SPARC.

ISS claims that both operating systems are popular among financial institutions, increasing the need for additional security to meet regulatory compliance initiatives and protect potentially vulnerable customer data.

Support for RHEL 4.0 AS/ES is provided through the ISS Proventia Server for Linux product and support for Solaris 10 SPARC is provided with ISS RealSecure Server Sensor. Both are available now. Support for these operating systems will be offered to existing customers at no additional charge.Further information can be found here.

• ISS also announced that at a special meeting of stockholders has approved the planned merger with IBM announced in August.   ISS currently expects the transaction to close in late October when ISS will become a wholly-owned subsidiary of IBM and will ceased to be listed on NASDAQ.
