The new version of the Google Search Appliance features SharePoint support and more.

While Google has been cleaning up its catalogue of products and services, including the elimination of the Google Mini search appliance, the company continues to develop the Google Search Appliance.

Intended to provide Google-style searching of internal and selected external sites. Google Search Appliance delivers results to desktops, notebooks, smartphones and tablets.

Version 7.0 adds support for Microsoft SharePoint 2010, and features refined relevance signals to better return the information that is most relevant to individual users.

It also allows users to add specific search results from the web, filesystems, and sources such as SharePoint.

Other changes include thumbnail and full-screen previews of results, Google Translate integration, and provision for collaboration with experts by recommending individuals with knowledge relating to the query.

And the price? That seems to be a secret - not even a Google search would reveal it.
