Shortly after releasing OS X 10.8.2 Mountain Lion and OS X 10.7.5 Lion, Apple has pushed out supplemental updates for its operating systems. The company has also released updated printer driver packages for three vendors.
OS X v10.8.2 Supplemental Update 1.0 is available from the Mac App Store or from the Apple Downloads page. It is a 27MB download.
It provides three specific fixes: the update resolves an issue that may cause certain Japanese characters to appear incorrectly in Mail, allows Safari to access secure sites when parental controls are enabled, and addresses an issue that may prevent systems with more than 64GB of RAM from starting up.
Mac OS X v10.7.5 Supplemental Update 1.0 is available via Software Update or from the Apple Downloads page. It is a 2MB download.
It resolves an issue that may cause Time Machine backups to take a very long time to complete - something that's been causing considerable problems for affected users.
The update also addresses an issue that prevents certain applications signed with a Developer ID from launching.
A restart is required after installing either supplemental update.
In related news, Apple also released new updated printer driver packages for Canon, Epson and Lexmark models.
It is generally best to allow OS X to take care of printer updates, but if you have a reason to need the complete sets of drivers they are also available from the Apple Downloads page.
