It seems there’s no end to the Microsoft Windows 8 marketing juggernaut with the announcement of keyboards and mice specially designed for Windows 8.

3 Mice and 2 keyboards are on their way from Microsoft Corp to further enhance your Windows 8 experience in what looks like part of an “all in” move by Gates & Co to take back some of the Mac OS defectors.

The Wedge Touch mouse and Wedge Mobile keyboard will be your Windows 8 tablet’s BFF as they feature a lightweight, “artful and minimalist design” using Bluetooth Technology for a tangle free experience.  They will transform your mobile device, into a bigger, heavier, less portable mobile device.  Laptop anyone?  From the main picture you can see a clean nicely designed keyboard with the mouse offering a unique “if I need to chock open my door I know what to use” inspired look.

The Sculpt Touch mouse and Sculpt Mobile keyboard offer the desktop user with the same functionality as the Wedge devices but in a more traditional manner.  The mouse actually resembles a mouse and the keyboard is another clean design which interestingly includes the “love it or hate it” kink design which is said to provide a more natural typing feel.  I’m yet to be convinced.  Again Bluetooth technology is used, so keep those batteries handy.

The Touch mouse is nothing new to the Microsoft range of mice, but will be host to a new firmware to fully exploit the potentials of the Windows 8 operating system.  Additional multi touch gestures will be included to make the mouse feel part of the new family.

All mice will feature 4 way scrolling and navigation and the “use virtually anywhere” BlueTrack Technology.

It’s great to see Microsoft really getting behind Windows 8.  Nothing has proven to be as a popular or as solid as Windows XP, with Vista being a train wreck and Windows 7 being much, much better but still not all the way there.  If Windows 8 ends up being all it’s cracked up to be, then Microsoft still has a fighting chance.
