eBay seals ad, click to call deal with Google

Business IT - Technology

After signing a lucrative US advertising deal with number 2 search provider Yahoo in May, online auction provider eBay has now sealed a similar ad deal with search engine leader Google for the rest of the world.

Under the agreement, as reported by Associated Press, Google will sell advertising on eBay sites outside the US, including click-to-call connecting buyers to sellers using both Google Talk telephone and messaging service and eBay's own Skype service.

Google will also have an exclusive rights to provide text advertising on eBay outside the US.

According to the AP report, Google and eBay will work together to build a system which will enable eBay visitors to contact both eBay product sellers or Google advertisers by internet phone calls by clicking on ads.

Whether the system will involve a choice between using Skype or Google Talk is unclear.
