Infor goes mobile with Infor10 Motion

Business IT - Technology

Business software vendor Infor has revealed Infor10 Motion, its cloud-based platform for mobile applications that integrate with Infor's ERP software.

Infor10 Motion is Infor's platform for enterprise mobility. Having already provided its product range with a single user interface, data federation and back-end integration with the release of Infor 10, Infor is now rolling out Motion and the first apps for the platform.

The Motion platform comprises a cloud-based server that acts as a data hub and app engine, obtaining data from the relevant Infor applications; App Manager to provide administrative control; and an SDK called Builder, which due by the end of 2012.

Motion extends Infor's ION platform (which provides a single point of integration between the company's various applications) by providing a basis for the development of mobile apps that can access the same data.

Infor will offer a range of Motion apps, and Nick Borth, mobility product manager, said the company's partners are expected to create a range of apps to complement them. He stressed that unlike some vendors, Infor is not selling the platform to developers but is instead trying to foster a community.

Infor customers will be able to use Builder to create in-house applications. App Manager will provide a single point of management for Infor, partner and homegrown apps - "that's pretty powerful in terms of value," said Mr Borth.
