Kerio Connect 7.3 is a more appropriate messaging and collaboration server for organisations with between 50 and 500 employees than Microsoft Exchange or Google Apps, company officials claim.
Dusan Vitek, Kerio's vice president of marketing, told iTWire that the availability of Kerio Connect 7.3 on Windows, Linux, Mac OS X, VMware, Parallels and HyperV - plus broad support for smartphones and email clients - provides a flexibility that Exchange cannot match. He also suggested that Google is trying to take a consumer-oriented service to businesses and other organisations, but they often want to control exactly where their data is stored, and want integration that provides ease of management that is not always available from hosted systems.
New features of Kerio Connect 7.3 include complete compatibility with iOS 5 (including full support for the iPhone 4S and iPad 2), automated configuration for iOS and Mac OS X, support for the 64-bit version of Outlook, the ability to use public encryption keys stored in Active Directory or Open Directory, and protection against brute-force attacks on user accounts.
Unlike other server products, Kerio Connect 7.3 can synchronise mail, calendars, contacts, tasks and notes with Outlook 2011.
Other improvements include full-text search in webmail, improved performance, and support for previously unsupported Exchange ActiveSync devices.
And there's more, so please read on.
