Updates to Quest Software's NetVault backup tools promise better performance, scalability and compatibility.
Quest officials claim it is the first backup software that supports block-level incremental backups to BlueArc's high-performance NAS systems. The new release also adds support for the latest versions of operating systems, applications and storage devices.
NetVault SmartDisk 1.5 now has the ability to deduplicate backups from NAS devices using basic NDMP backups or NetApp's SnapMirror-to-Tape function.

"NetVault Backup lets users leverage their existing storage investments while delivering the speed, scalability, and ease of use they need to simplify cross-platform data protection and minimise business risk in the process."
