Silverlight 5 beta arrives

Microsoft has been talking up Silverlight 5 for a couple of months, and now the beta is here.


More news from MIX11: Microsoft has released the Silverlight 5 beta.

New features in Silverlight 5 include hardware video decoding, support for varying video playback speeds with compensating changes to the audio pitch, and support for 3D visualisations.

Other changes include typographic improvements, PostScript vector printing, reduced network latency, support for 64-bit operating systems, and provision for trusted Silverlight applications for tighter integration with desktop applications.

Furthermore, Silverlight 5 includes features intended to improve developer productivity, Microsoft officials claimed.
