Gomez goes for Firefox 4, IE9

Business IT - Technology

Compuware has updated its Gomez platform to handle the new versions of Firefox and Internet Explorer.

One of the functions of Compuware's Gomez is to automate cross-browser compatibility testing. The latest version adds support for Firefox 4 and Internet Explorer 9.

Despite a growing focus on standards, the ways in which various browsers handle the same content seems to becoming more rather than less diverse. Furthermore, browsers such as Firefox and Safari are so widely used that they can no longer be quietly ignored by those developing web sites for public use.

"Today there are more browsers and browser versions, each with their own performance characteristics, impacting your users' Web experience," said Rafi Katanasho, Compuware's solutions director for application performance management. "Organisations need to know how existing and new applications will look and perform across all browsers. Variations in browsers and browser versions mean variations in performance, and ultimately variations in the end user experience."

So Gomez's cross-browser testing facility has been updated to handle the recently introduced Firefox 4 and Internet Explorer 9.
