Time running out for Windows Phone 7 developer competition entries

Business IT - Technology

There's not much time left if you're thinking of entering Microsoft's Windows Phone 7 app competition.

The iPhone attracted a lot of early developer love, and Android is coming up fast. Not wanting Windows 7 to miss out, Microsoft launched a competition last December to stimulate interest among Australian developers.

Entries are accepted in seven categories: games, music and entertainment, travel and lifestyle, business and finance, productivity and utilities, health and fitness, and news, sport and reference.

First prize is a trip to Microsoft's MIX11 conference in Las Vegas (registration, flights and accommodation) plus an HTC 7 Mozart, and there are five more Mozarts as runner-up prizes. All entrants receive a "very cool" Windows Phone 7 t-shirt.

The competition is being judged by Microsoft's Dave Glover and Sheau-Lan Reed, Telstra's David Powell, mobile developer Nick Randolph, and user experience specialist Jennifer Wilson.

Once an app is available in the Windows Phone Marketplace, its developer can register here for the competition.
