Seagate 2.5in SAS/SATA drives reach 1TB

Seagate claims an industry first with its 1TB enterprise-class 2.5in drive.


Designed for use in server, NAS and SAN environments, Seagate's Constellation.2 enterprise-class drive is the first 2.5in family in its class with capacities up to 1TB, company officials claimed.

Constellation.2 drives are offered in 250GB, 500GB and 1TB versions, with 6Gbps SATA or 6Gbps SAS interfaces. A self encrypting drive option is available.

"The Constellation.2 underscores Seagate's commitment to its customers to deliver industry-leading solutions that meet the demands of IT professionals today and tomorrow," said Carla Kennedy, vice president of product line management. "With its class-leading reliability, record-breaking capacity, and improvements made along its entire range of features, Constellation.2 drive is a perfect solution for dense server and storage systems."

Seagate's OEM customers for the new drive include Dell.
