A hardware upgrade to a pair of POWER7-based IBM Power 750 servers and six System x3550 servers has provided the headroom required to cope with the Christmas selling season.
Software upgrades to the IBM i operating system (the successor to OS/400) and WebSphere Application Server has also improved performance.
Other benefits of the upgrade included reductions in the rack space and power consumption.
Con Sardellis, IT operations manager at Tupperware, said the migration to the new systems "was all completed in a couple of hours with barely any disruption to our operations."
The project was completed in October.
