Wireless broadband service provider, Personal Broadband Australia has launched a portable USB modem for its iBurst service.

iBurst presently offers a PCMCIA modem and a mains powered ethernet/USB desktop modem.

The new modem will be welcomed particularly by users of Apple laptops: some low end models do not have a PCMCIA slot nor do the new Intel based MacBook Pros which use Expresscard/34 instead of PCMCIA.

The USB modem will be available from mid-May at around $200 retail and will be demonstrated at the iBurst CeBit stand this week. It will work with Windows 2000, Windows XP, Mac OS 10.3 and above and Linux operating systems.
