Netgear, Cirrus and Broadband Phone to offer regional VoIP

Business IT - Technology

Netgear, Cirrus Communications and Broadband Phone have formed a partnership to provide VoIP services to customers in regional areas at what they say will be competitive prices.
Initially services will be offered in Central Coast and Central West of New South Wales, and the Sunshine Coast in Queensland. Cirrus Communications, however, has plans to expand its markets into other regions over the coming months.

The new service, KISS, bundles a broadband service with telecommunications access and the required hardware. The Cirrus Communications product offers free calls between KISS customers and local, intercity or interstate calls for $0.10 fixed rate untimed. Mobile calls are charged at $0.29 per minute and international rates range from $0.035 a minute.

Broadband Phone is an Australian-owned company with eight years experience of VoIP. It has its own PoPs in all major capital city centres in Australia, New Zealand and a number of overseas cities. It claims to have over one million active customer accounts, and to switch in excess of 10 million minutes per month, and to have wholesale agreements with a number of Australian and overseas carriers.
