The objective of the initial release of Solid PDF to Word was to get the Mac version of Solid's PDF engine on the market as quickly as possible, Cartwright explained, adding that user interface improvements would be among the changes made in successive versions. The initial release does show signs of a Windows heritage.

The program costs $US75.95, with a limited introductory offer of $US59.95.
