SAP Rejected in Australia

Business IT - Technology

The well-known Australian retailer The Reject Shop has completed a SAP implementation with the assistance of the specialist retail IT outsourcer, CIBER.

In early 2007, The Reject Shop decided to replace the existing QQQ CRMS system with something better suited to its growth plans; with the intention to increase the current 190 stores to around 400 at a rate of 20 per year.

With a focus on Merchandising, Finance, Management, IT and Logistics, the company selected US-based
CIBER "due to its expertise in delivering large-scale SAP retail solutions and the cultural fit between the two businesses," according to the joint press release.

"The Reject Shop and CIBER quickly identified the opportunity to incorporate Marketing and Property within the scope with no delay or extra cost. CIBER Australia's implementation of SAP IS Retail now supports 90 staff across seven operational disciplines, with plans for additional strategic capabilities in 2010."

Chief Information Officer at The Reject Shop, Darren O'Connor noted, "We believe the success of complex enterprise technology projects depend as much on the people involved, as the capability of the technology.

"To this end, the tender focused on building an appropriate team from within The Reject Shop's merchandising, IT and finance departments, together with CIBER's creative and fresh approach, combined with the considerable might of the SAP retail engine."
