Melbourne developer rises to the (Microsoft) Surface

Business IT - Technology

If you think Microsoft's Surface multitouch tabletop computer system could play a part in your business, a Melbourne developer is keen to help.

Most of the early applications for Microsoft's revolved around the retail and hospitality industries. Indeed, the first commercial use was in AT&T stores, and casino operator Harrah's was one of Microsoft's original Surface partners.

As previously reported, the ANZ Bank was one of the first Australian enterprises to adopt the device.

Object Consulting was the company that created ANZ's first application (which made its debut at the recent Australian Open tennis tournament and included a tennis puzzle that could only be completed within the time limit if multiple players collaborated on the solution as well as functions more closely related to banking).

The company built another commercial application for a client that wanted guests at an annual awards dinner to be able to interact with photos taken at the event.

The company is talking to Australian organisations in various industries about the possible use of Surface, said national practice and productivity manager Kevin Francis.
