Orange Business Services, the arm of France Telecom that provides services to multinational corporations, has launched a machine-to-machine (M2M) and real time communications division in Australia.
The division will be led by Malcolm Seymour, who was recently recruited as managing consultant & practice lead for the new division.
The move follows Orange Business Services announcing last June that it had created
an international M2M centre in Brussels devoted to machine-to-machine (M2M) connectivity solutions. The company said it intended "to be amongst the world leaders in the M2M field."
The Orange announcement was followed by one from Vodafone a month later of plans to
launch a global machine to machine (M2M) service platform to help companies deploy and manage large, wireless M2M projects.
According to Orange Business Services, its Australia M2M division "will provide Australia's multinational customers with the expert advice and technical support needed to develop and deploy unique M2M applications to improve business efficiency, cut costs or launch new products or services [and] will work closely with its customers to provide consultancy, R&D, and managed services for real-time business communications."
