Uncontrolled printing costs midsized organisations dearly

Could you cut your printing costs by one third? Kyocera Mita thinks it's possible.

According to research carried out in Australia for Kyocera Mita, the total cost of ownership (TCO) of a midsized company's printer fleet is between $A151,000 and $A287,000 over three years.

"Disturbingly, most businesses are missing out on opportunities to cut print costs by as much as 35%, simply because they are unaware of their real printing costs and therefore aren’t optimising their printer fleets," said David Finn, managing director of Kyocera Mita Australia and New Zealand.

"It's a case of not being able to manage what you can't measure," he added.

The research was carried out by industry research firm Longhaus.

"Although total cost of ownership being far from a new concept and regularly applied to other areas of IT, the results of this research show that printers have become a forgotten device; victims of their own success and quiet utility," said Longhaus research director Sam Higgins.
