Curtin joins iTunes U

Business IT - Technology

Curtin University of Technology is the latest Australian institution to join Apple's iTunes U.

A section of Apple's iTunes Store, iTunes U delivers content from universities, museums and public media organisations. The free downloads vary from course materials through public lectures to documentaries.

Curtin will also be using it as part of the university's outreach to secondary students.

"We hope that this is the beginning of a new level of interaction between the university and secondary school students that will evolve in 2010," said Rick Barrett, head of Curtin's digital media unit.

The other Australian participants are Australian National University, Griffith University, La Trobe University, RMIT University, Swinburne University, University of Melbourne, University of NSW, and University of WA.

Around the world, more than 250 institutions offer content through iTunes U.
