Using Fujitsu's new line of ScanSnap scanners, co-workers can scan paper documents and automatically upload them to a MindTouch Collaborative Network.
MindTouch is a provider of open source software that enables enterprises to set up wiki-style collaboration platforms.
The company cites a Forrester Research report that labeled it the best open source alternative to Microsoft SharePoint services.
The company has partnered with Fujitsu to let employees scan paper documents and upload them directly to a MindTouch platform, where they can be shared and edited across the enterprise.
The process works with Fujitsu's latest line of
ScanSnap scanners, including the S1300 color portable scanner. An employee chooses "scan to e-mail" from the ScanSnap software and then sends the document to their MindTouch address.
According to MindTouch vice president of marketing Mike Puterbaugh, "Using MindTouch with ScanSnap allows multiple parties to edit uploaded documents while retaining a complete version history -- all within a MindTouch page -- and maintains complete IT governance and security over their critical documents."
