A second developer build of Mac OS X 10.6.3 has been released in a matter of days.
Mac OS X 10.6.3 build 10D548 was released to developers last Friday. Hot on its heels, build 10D552 went out to the developer community on Tuesday evening (US time).
There are said to be no known issues with 10D552. But that's what they said about 10D548, so testing by developers must have revealed a few shortcomings.
Progress is clearly being made, as developers have been asked to focus their testing on Airport, QuickTime and the graphics drivers. With 10D548, iCal and printing were also on the list.
Mac OS X 10.6.3 is said to provide performance improvements for Apple's Logic music application in 64-bit environments; improved compatibility for OpenGL applications; improved reliability, compatibility and security for QuickTime X; and reliability and compatibility improvements for third-party printers.
It also respects the specified order of DNS servers, and fixes problems that could cause Mail to display background colours incorrectly, cause Rosetta to choke on file names containing # or &, prevent files being copied to Windows shares, and cause systems to unexpectedly wake from sleep.
The rapid-fire release of two developer builds has boosted speculation that the release of 10.6.3 is looming.
