Networking security specialist, Aventail, has unveiled what it claims to be the first complete SSL VPN solution for Mac and Linux platforms.
The product, Aventail Connect Tunnel for Mac and Linux, incorporates Aventail's patent-pending Smart Tunnelling architecture, said to guarantee secure communication to all resources, for both managed and unmanaged Mac and Linux devices, with clientless and client-based access options using either IPSec or SSL.
The product gives Mac and Linux users two secure, remote access options: Connect Tunnel: a light-weight, persistent agent for network application access and work place access: and clientless browser access for Web applications and file share access.
It supports a range of Mac and Linux browsers including Safari, Firefox, Mozilla, and Microsoft Internet Explorer. It also includes dynamically deployed Java applet for access to client/server applications.
The full release of Aventail Connect Tunnel for Mac and Linux will be generally available in the second quarter of 2006, as software upgrades for existing hardware products. They are included in the base license price of Aventail's EX-2500 and EX-1500, enterprise-class appliances and are available as an add-on to the EX-750, Aventail's SSL VPN appliance tailored to small to mid-sized enterprises,
