Telstra has revealed the addition of almost one million new mobile services in the six months to December 2011, but Sensis revenues plummeted 24 percent in 12 months.
The company said the update was mostly about "speed, stability and compatibility," but some users found it caused a serious reduction in compatibility.
The problem related to opening Open XML documents and templates (ie, files saved in the 'new' Office 2007/2008 format).
It manifested as an error message along the lines of "Microsoft Excel cannot open the file. You may have to download the latest updates for Office for Mac. Do you want to visit the Microsoft Web site for more information?"
Word, Excel and PowerPoint documents - with or without macros - were all potentially affected.
If you have already installed SP2, the 12.2.1 update should appear next time Microsoft AutoUpdate runs. If you don't want to wait, use the above link.
In related news, Microsoft has also released a new version of the Open XML File Format Converter for Mac. Used to convert Open XML documents to Office v.X and 2004 compatible formats, version 1.1.1 delivers the equivalent changes provided in the Office 12.2.1 update.
