Telstra has revealed the addition of almost one million new mobile services in the six months to December 2011, but Sensis revenues plummeted 24 percent in 12 months.
According to multiple reports, at least one person attending the Defcon security conference in Las Vegas noticed that an ATM in the Riviera Hotel didn't look quite right.
There's no real suggestion that the fake was aimed at Defcon attendees (although admission is cash only), but given the presence of thousands of security pros it isn't surprising that at least one of them noticed that the window over the camera was too dark and that a visible LED was the wrong colour.
Closer inspection revealed that it was a shell with a PC inside. If anyone tried to use it, their card details and PIN were recorded, presumably for later fraudulent activity.
The fake ATM was located near the Riviera's security office. The apparent reason was that this is a blind spot in the hotel's network of security cameras. Still, this is Las Vegas, so it's a fair bet that the hotel will be able to retrieve footage of the machine being wheeled in.
Police removed the device late last week.
Fake ATMs are reportedly a growing problem, especially in Las Vegas.
