BitDefender says Exploit.SWF.Gen’s popularity is partly
due to the fact that until recently Adobe was distributing an old
version of the player via its website, relying on the player's
auto-update feature (which is optional) to pull-in needed security
patches.
Win32.Sality.OG, a rootkit-installing file
infector, climbed from number six to number five on the list in July,
and at number three, Trojan.Wimad, continued its comeback, slightly
increasing from 5.60 percent to 6.16 percent of infections in July.
Trojan.AutorunINF.Gen remained stationary at number two, with almost no
percentage change, reports BitDefender.
Meantime, the number one top spot on BitDefender’s list is still
Trojan.Clicker.CM, increasing from 10.13 percent to 11.41 percent of
infections in July.
