Seagate wants to protect small businesses with BlackArmor

Business IT - Technology

A new series of NAS devices from Seagate is squarely aimed at small businesses.
A pair of NAS units from Seagate provides shared storage, backup for networked computers, and remote accessibility.

The initial BlackArmor NAS products provide four storage bays. First off the rank in August will be the $A1399 420, which will be shipped with two drives giving a total of 2T.

Launch date for its bigger sibling has yet to be set, but the 440 will be fitted with four drives in 4T ($A1899) or 6T (2599) configurations.

Total capacity can be expanded to 8T.

The BlackArmor NAS units provide an easy to install and manage storage system, Seagate officials claim.

Features include file or volume encryption, user-replacable drives, four USB ports for backup to external drives, and the ability to provide remote access to selected files and folders.
