Telstra has revealed the addition of almost one million new mobile services in the six months to December 2011, but Sensis revenues plummeted 24 percent in 12 months.
Where its predecessors N95 and N96 have failed, the N97
succeeds. Nokia’s new smartphone has fitted a huge battery, 50 per cent
bigger than the N96, giving up to a massive 40 hours music playback.
It has a customisable touchscreen home page which
allows you to add your favourite web widgets like Facebook, MySpace or
news, as well as shortcuts to your email and other phone features.
The five megapixel camera and QWERTY keyboard of the N97 beat Apple
iPhone’s three megapixel camera and no physical keyboard. And of
course, unlike the iPhone, the N97 has a front-mounted camera for video
calls.
Nokia claims that the N97 can shoot videos at up to 30 frames a second.
A playback time of six hours 3G talkback and more than 400 hours of 3G standby seems to be more than adequate battery life.

The added convenience of a 3.5 mm headphone jack, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi ticks all the boxes.
Nokia used Symbian S60 5th edition for the N97 operating system.But
reviewers have complained the N97’s operating system has its drawbacks
with a slight delay in switching between applications and difficulty in
navigating web pages using the touch screen. This is one area where
iPhone wins hands down.
From pricing in Europe and the US, the estimated cost to buy the phone outright in Australia will fall between $1000 and $1500.
With the N97, Nokia delivers on functionality but is still lagging
behind in the style stakes compared to undisputed style leader Apple.
The iPhone handset is much more sleek and shiny.
The Nokia N97 has a real fight on its hands with stiff competition as
it goes head to head against the iPhone 3G S released on the same date
and the new additions from the Palm Pre, Blackberry Storm and Android
phones.
More than one million iPhone 3 G S handsets were sold in the US in just three days, according to Apple.
However, many loyal Nokia users will no doubt still be bubbling with
excitement to get their hands on this latest attempt to steal some of
Apple’s lunch.
