The Government has offered Australia's three mobile operators, and vividwireless, renewal of their existing spectrum allocated on 15 year licences in the late 90s and early 2000s at set prices, while the Government expects to rake in $3 billion.
Apparently the initial version of Flash for Android will only be available on the HTC Hero, though the forthcoming Flash Player 10 will be widely offered for Android, Windows Mobile and Symbian handsets.
As for the HTC Hero itself, it is an upmarket touchscreen smartphone running Android heavily customised with HTC's Sense user interface.
"HTC Sense is a distinct experience created to make HTC phones more simple for people to use, leaving them saying, it just makes sense," said HTC CEO Peter Chou.
Hardware specifications include a 528MHz Qualcomm MSM7200A processor, 288M of RAM, a 3.2in/320x480 screen, Bluetooth, b/g Wi-Fi, 5MP camera, GPS, digital compass, and accelerometer.
The screen has an anti-fingerprint treatment, while the case is coated with Teflon for a durable, soft-touch finish.
The handset will go on sale in Europe in July, in Asia later this northern summer, and in the US before the end of the year. Prices have yet to be announced.
