Internode launches multiple number multiline VoIP service

Business IT - Technology

Internode has introduced a VoIP service for businesses that require multiple voice lines and a large range of direct in dial numbers. The service substitutes for long-established ISDN services but with greater flexibility and lower cost, according to Internode.

The service, NodePhone Business Trunks works with a wide range of IP-enabled PBX systems and comes with a minimum of two voice channels and 100 telephone numbers. The service is available in the Adelaide, Brisbane, Melbourne, Perth and Sydney local call zones.

Each 100-number in-dial range has a once-off setup fee of $50 and a monthly fee of $25. Each channel costs $50 to setup and $10 per month to maintain (Additional channels can be activated online immediately via the NodePhone Toolbox.) NodePhone voice service plans cost from $5 per month which includes $10 of call credits. Calls to standard numbers Australia-wide are charged at 18 cents, untimed. 'On-net calls between different offices using the NodePhone service in the local call areas covered by the service are not charged. Customers need a broadband service with a bandwidth of at least 100kbps upstream and downstream for each voice channel.

Internode product manager Philip Dempster said NodePhone Business Trunks had been created in response to customer demand. "Customers were asking us for access to the service that Internode has used internally for several years. During the past year, we have worked with a number of customers to design a product that meets the needs of businesses which require a cost-effective and flexible telephone service."

Carbon Planet, a global carbon management company with six offices and 60 employees nationally used NodePhone Business Trunks since last year as part of Internode's product development. Carbon Planet founder and executive director David Sag said: "We wanted a telephone system that was flexible enough to cope with our evolving needs. The system lets us register our direct dial number on any handset in our offices so that all incoming calls to that number will come to that handset. NodePhone...also offers quality of service (QoS) management to guarantee call quality."

He added: "The integration of NodePhone with our data network means, even when I'm on the road, I can take a call on my laptop and transfer it to the office. It also offers many future benefits as we integrate the service with our customer relationship management and ticket-tracking systems."
