Take a Hunch - Bing is not a decision engine

Business IT - Technology

Pre-dating Bing by a few weeks, Hunch is by far the better decision-engine technology. Try it.

Go to Hunch and the first thing you'll be greeted with is a short quiz with the text "Teach Hunch About You."

Hunch is a user-driven decision engine and the introductory experience is an opportunity to tell Hunch a little about yourself.  Hunch began an invite-only beta preview period on March 27, 2009 and opened to the public on June 15, 2009.

Answering the introductory twenty questions, which vary from your taste in art and potato fries to whether you sing in the shower or have ever tried skydiving, allows a relatively narrow sub-defining of users of the site.  Once completed, you're invited to create your own Hunch account.  If you plan to return, this is probably a good idea.

Hunch is probably best described by the introductory text once you create your account: "Welcome to Hunch!  Hunch is a decision-making tool, built by its users.  In ten questions or fewer, Hunch gives you its best hunch of what you would like.  Read the FAQ for help, post to the forums for questions or suggestions, and let us know how we can make Hunch help you.  We're glad you're here.  Now go make some decisions!"

Look closer; Hunch is a completely user-driven decision environment where the more people aid the decision-evaluation process, the stronger the results will be.  Users are encouraged to assist in the development of the answer trees (as long as they stay within the 'PG' guidelines).

Remember the 20 questions we answered at the beginning?  These are used to 'colour' our replies and will assist similar users to make use of our responses to other questions with greater validity.

Enough with the words, how well does it work?
