Facebook opens stream to developers

To show off some of the capabilities of Open Stream applications, Facebook hosted a demo event along with some of its developers.

The Plaxo social media network demonstrated how a user could connect Facebook and Plaxo so that friends on the former become contacts on the other.

Seesmic introduced the beta of Seesmic Desktop, a Twitter-plus-Facebook client that puts both social media streams into one interface.

And Facebook itself showed off a new Adobe Air application, Facebook Desktop for Air, which functions as a standalone application to access Facebook. Available through a link on the Facebook Blog , it eliminates the (what some users consider) clutter in the Facebook browser display.

Even Microsoft got in on the fun, demoing a Silverlight-based client for interactive Facebook photo viewing.
