Asus getting real serious about PR

Business IT - Technology

Asus has taken its PR in-house and appointed Linda Vo as its spin-doctor for Australia and New Zealand, who takes over from external consultant Christine Kardashian.

The Eee PC has transformed Asus in the Australian and global markets from a bit player in the PC business to a major force in the industry since the netbook stormed onto the market in July 2007.

Since the Australian launch of the Eee PC in December 2007, the first batch of machines to hit Australia sold out in a matter of hours through an exclusive sales deal with the Myer retail chain.

Of course, since the initial Eee PC launch through Myer, Asus has progressively added a raft of retailers across Australia where you can buy the computer, and it has also added a desktop version – the Eee Box.

While Asus have given us no more information about Ms Vo, the company does say she has been brought on board to help strengthen the company’s media relations in Australia and to help it tell consumers about its “exciting channel product ranges.”
