Apple may release a second beta of Safari 4 alongside or after 10.5.7, or it may wait until Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard's arrival to release a finished 10.5.x-compatible version of the browser.
Another reason for predicting an imminent release of 10.5.7 is that some people that have been waiting for pre-ordered iMacs equipped with the ATI Radeon HD 4850 graphics chip say they have been told to expect delivery this week.
Examinations of earlier developer builds of 10.5.7 have revealed support for the HD 4850, something that's missing from 10.5.6.
However, Apple has been known to ship new models with non-standard versions of its operating system that include support for new hardware features.
Mac OS X 10.5.7 will deliver more than 100 fixes for many aspects of the operating system.
These fall into areas including networking (WiFi, wired and Bluetooth), synchronisation, mail, printing, sound, Time Machine, external drives, graphics, iChat and Parental Controls.
So if you've been experiencing problems in any of these areas, a cure may be at hand.
