Jobs reported working on Apple netbook

Business IT - Technology

In March, Reuters reported that Apple had ordered 10-inch touchscreens from a Taiwanese manufacturer.

The screens from Wintek, which already makes screens for iPhones, are allegedly set to be delivered in the third quarter of this year.

A 10-inch touchscreen device is, of course, more of a tablet than a netbook. But the iPhone has long had Bluetooth, and the 3.0 OS upgrade apparently also unlocked Bluetooth in the iPod Touch.

So it's a good bet that any 10-inch touch-based device Apple makes will also have Bluetooth--and guess who already makes a very thin Bluetooth keyboard? That's right, Apple.

Put all this together, and it seems like Apple already has most of the technology needed to get a netbook on the market.

Perhaps we'll hear more when Jobs returns from leave.
