Jetstar general manager distribution and commercial systems, Jamie Perry, said today that the airline had contracted Hostworks to bolster its online infrastructure and to meet the demands of more than 100,000 unique visitors to its website each day.
Perry said the airline had chosen Hostworks because of its specialist skills and demonstrated experience in providing some of the most high-availability web presences in the Asia Pacific region.
Perry said Hostworks is managing the Jetstar.com website, which addresses the flight needs of people in eight South East Asian regions, covering five languages, including Australia, New Zealand, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam.
“Hostworks impressed us as a purely corporate provider that could give us the level of service we required. The process of implementation has run very well. Hostworks has a lot of depth and specialisation there.”
According to Perry, Jetstar’s decision to outsource management of its Jetstar.com website to Hostworks is part of its growth strategy, which includes long-haul routes with orders for a number of Boeing 787 Dreamliners. In line with its risk management strategy, Jetstar has its booking engine hosted by a separate service provider, Perry added.
“As the business grows, this platform prepares us for growth in a structured and planned way. Through the new Hostworks contract, we are in a virtualised environment. If we need more capacity than we currently have, virtualisation means it’s a straightforward process to bring them on. We also have our mobile website hosted by Hostworks as mobile is a high growth area of the Internet.”
Hostworks sales and marketing director, Klaus Bartosch, said the Jetstar contract demonstrated Hostworks’ strategic value for fast-growing businesses.
