"There are real business benefits from taking a strategic view of Green IT including reducing costs, improving corporate reputation and increasing morale," said Alison O'Flynn, Fujitsu Australia's head of sustainability.
So what's stopping them?
According to the research, it's largely a failure to understand that Green IT saves money and increases profitability. Another problem seems to be a lack of leadership, either within the IT function or at a corporate level.
The report concludes "It is evident that establishing a successful Green IT
program requires two ingredients:
"1. The right person to champion Green IT initiatives internally; and
"2. The supporting frameworks and tools needed to track, measure and report on the benefits of such a policy."
The research, carried out by Pollinate, gathered information from more than 310 CIOs and senior IT managers from various industries around Australia.
