The Government has offered Australia's three mobile operators, and vividwireless, renewal of their existing spectrum allocated on 15 year licences in the late 90s and early 2000s at set prices, while the Government expects to rake in $3 billion.

Castelli says it’s surprising that the growth in highly mobile workers has not been reflected in a growth of expenditure on mobility services.
“There has been a significant decrease in spending on mobile voice. This may be a result of decreasing mobile voice prices as well as behaviour changes, with users making fewer mobile phone calls, while increasing cost efficient SMS and mobile email usage.”
