SMEs still spending on telco, but focus on ROI

According to the Ovum report, mobility in SMEs is growing but spending on mobility services has decreased.

However, while spending has decreased, Ovum says the number of highly mobile workers has increased from an average 19% in 2007 to 21% in this survey, with moderately mobile workers also increasing from 15% in 2007 to 17% in this latest survey.

Castelli says it’s surprising that the growth in highly mobile workers has not been reflected in a growth of expenditure on mobility services.

“There has been a significant decrease in spending on mobile voice. This may be a result of decreasing mobile voice prices as well as behaviour changes, with users making fewer mobile phone calls, while increasing cost efficient SMS and mobile email usage.”
