Business IT - Technology

The 10th meeting of the Asia-Pacific Telecommunity Standardisation Program (ASTAP) is being hosted by the Australian Communications and Media Authority in Melbourne from 26 to 28 October 2005.

Topics to be discussed include radio frequency identification (RFID), intelligent transport systems and next generation networks (NGN) and the relationship between global telecommunications standards and international free trade agreements.

The forum will include a session designed to increase awareness of accessibility and usability issues in standards development. A VoIP and NGN workshop will also be held immediately prior to the forum on Tuesday 25 October 2005 and will include presentations on NGN standardisation activity in the International Telecommunication Union and the European Telecommunications Standardisation Institute, and updates on VoIP deployment in the Republic of Korea, Japan and China.

More information about ASTAP is on the APT website.
