Telstra has revealed the addition of almost one million new mobile services in the six months to December 2011, but Sensis revenues plummeted 24 percent in 12 months.
Dilithium Networks has added support for the Blackberry to the Dilithium Content Adapter (DCA) network side software that enables standard players and browsers on a cellphone to view live video and video on demand.
Dilithium claims that DCA is the only product on the market that supports live and VoD streaming for a wide range of mobile devices. The list already includes Nokia, Motorola, Samsung, LG, Sony Ericsson and the Apple iPhone and iPod Touch.
It claims that DCA supports most live and pre-recorded video formats and performs on-the-fly and on-demand transport, media formatting, and codec and bit rate adaptation. "Customers do not need to install a special application on their handset and can access the video services via EDGE, WiFi, or 3G networks, depending on the Blackberry model."
Dilithium claims to be the global leader in high-quality multimedia delivery over mobile and broadband networks to any device with deployments in 60 countries reaching over one billion subscribers: and the company started life in Australia.
It was founded in 1994 as Macchina Pty Ltd to commercialise intellectual property in IT&T developed by the University of Sydney. Its co-founder and currently chief technical officer, is Marwan Jabri, then a professor of computer engineering at Sydney University. The company became Dilithium Networks in 2001 when it secured venture funding and moved its headquarters to California.
