Telstra has revealed the addition of almost one million new mobile services in the six months to December 2011, but Sensis revenues plummeted 24 percent in 12 months.
Competition for the popular BlackBerry 'push' email technology has ramped up notch with the release by Ericsson of a new version of the Ericsson Mobile Organiser (EMO) offering 'push' access to all personal information management (PIM) applications.
Ericsson claims that EMO 5.1 enables mobile users to keep fully up to date without any need for proprietary hardware, special devices or operator tie-ins. It provides push PIM functionality for users of Symbian smartphones and Microsoft Windows Mobile smartphones or PDAs. According to Ericsson, E-mail, calendar updates, meeting requests and contact updates are automatically delivered to the user via the mobile network and changes on the mobile device are instantly mirrored on the user's desktop, and vice versa.
Users of EMO 5.1 can now search for e-mail and meeting request recipients from the enterprise's global address list. EMO 5.1 Enterprise and Professional editions support Microsoft Exchange and Lotus Domino environments. E-mail attachments can be downloaded, read and edited by the user.
