Telstra has revealed the addition of almost one million new mobile services in the six months to December 2011, but Sensis revenues plummeted 24 percent in 12 months.
ComVu in the US has
launched a service that enables anyone with a compatible cellphone to
send live video to friends and colleagues which they can watch by
logging on to a website.
ComVu suggests that, "With the push of
a button on a camera phone bloggers, citizen reporters, family members,
friends and corporate professionals can broadcast live events to their
communities that can then watch the live feed on mobile devices or PCs
with Windows Media compatible players." Potential viewers are notified
of the live videostream via SMS, IM or email.
The service has
been launched in the US as a beta release for any Windows Mobile 5
device, Windows PocketPC XScale devices with VEO SD camera and a number
of others. ComVu software can be downloaded from the website
(www.comvu.com). Prices start at $US10/month or $US80/year, which
allows for approximately eight hours of broadcasting or playback, and
100MB of storage.
