Broadcast live video from your cellphone

ComVu in the US has launched a service that enables anyone with a compatible cellphone to send live video to friends and colleagues which they can watch by logging on to a website.

ComVu suggests that, "With the push of a button on a camera phone bloggers, citizen reporters, family members, friends and corporate professionals can broadcast live events to their communities that can then watch the live feed on mobile devices or PCs with Windows Media compatible players." Potential viewers are notified of the live videostream via SMS, IM or email.

The service has been launched in the US as a beta release for any Windows Mobile 5 device, Windows PocketPC XScale devices with VEO SD camera and a number of others. ComVu software can be downloaded from the website (www.comvu.com). Prices start at $US10/month or $US80/year, which allows for approximately eight hours of broadcasting or playback, and 100MB of storage.
