Optus promises midnight feast for iPhone faithful

Vodafone is holding Friday morning events in all capital cities, with Telstra thought to be planning something for its T Life store in central Sydney and possibly other capitals.

Last weekend, Telstra ran a prominent print advertising campaign promoting new handsets, but the iPhone 3G was notable for its absence.

Australian carriers have been criticised for failing to provide potential customers with clear information about the service plans to be offered with the iPhone 3G, and there are suggestions that Apple's new handset initially may be in short supply.
