Mobile operators get fixed price spectrum renewal in $3b Government windfall

The Government has offered Australia's three mobile operators, and vividwireless, renewal of their existing spectrum allocated on 15 year licences in the late 90s and early 2000s at set prices, while the Government expects to rake in $3 billion.

Microsoft fixes Excel calculation bug

Microsoft has broken with its normal monthly patch release cycle to rush out an update for an Excel bug introduced by one of March's security fixes.

One of last week's Patch Tuesday security patches for Microsoft Office had a side effect of causing calculation errors in Excel 2003 spreadsheets that used Real Time Data sources in user-created Visual Basic for Applications functions.

A revised version of the update for Excel 2003 SP2 and SP3 has now been released and is available via Microsoft Update and Automatic Updates. It will be applied to those versions of Excel whether or not the original update has been installed.

Excel 2000, 2002, 2004, 2007 and 2008 were not affected by the Real Time Data issue.
