New versions of FileMaker Server and FileMaker Server Advanced deliver compatibility with Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard plus a number of bug fixes that are also relevant (or even specific) to other operating systems
Those running the database software on Mac OS X 10.4 or Windows can use an updater to take the application from version 9.0v2 to 9.0v3.
Leopard users need to download the full 9.0v3 installer and use their existing licence keys. "Do not install FileMaker Server 9.0v3 on Mac OS X 10.4.x before updating to 10.5.x. The installation must be performed on Mac OS X 10.5.x only," FileMaker officials warned, adding "Avoid using databases backed up by Time Machine in Mac OS X 10.5.x. Instead, use the FileMaker Server Admin Console to create a schedule to back up databases."
Fixes in version 9.0v3 include:
• Databases can now be closed and clients can be disconnected correctly while a FileMaker ODBC/JDBC session is active.
• Field indexes no longer get out of sync between server side scripts, ODBC/JDBC clients, and FileMaker clients.
• In Windows, fixed a problem with not being able to stop the Web Publishing Engine when stopping FileMaker Server from the Service Control Manager.
• In Mac OS X, you can now unmount or eject a network or external disk after uploading a database from it using Admin Console.
• Disconnecting a Server-side scripting client while the script is running now halts the script.
• The consistency check on open will no longer report a database as damaged in cases where the issue found is completely innocuous.
There are also multiple fixes for the PHP Site Assistant.
The full list of fixes is available from the
FileMaker web site.
