Telstra has revealed the addition of almost one million new mobile services in the six months to December 2011, but Sensis revenues plummeted 24 percent in 12 months.
With features including support for Volume Shadow Copy Service, tight integration with Visual Studio and improved integration with Active Directory and Kerberos, company officials say the database is suitable for mission-critical applications.
Earlier this month, 11g for Windows set a new record of of 102,454 tpmC for the TPC-C benchmark at a cost of $US0.73 per tmpC. The record was established on an HP ProLiant ML350G5 running Windows 2003 x64.
"Optimised for Windows, Oracle Database 11g helps growing businesses address their increasing data management demands with unrivaled price/performance and scalability," said Andy Mendelsohn, Oracle's senior vice president of database server technologies.
One of the beta sites for 11g for Windows was Melbourne Health, which tested the new database for the storage, metadata extraction, and retrieval of medical images.
"Oracle Database 11g on Windows has provided a number of new features such as increased capabilities for management of unstructured data including medical imaging, improved data compression for managing rapidly growing volumes of data, and data encryption for securing sensitive data that we would consider implementing in support of the Bio21:MMIM project," said project director Marienne Hibbert.
Bio21:Molecular Medicine Informatics Model (MMIM) is a platform that provides clinical researchers access to data from disparate existing databases across multiple disease types at multiple institutions, co-located in a virtual repository.
"Authorised researchers will be able to access de-identified information about an image via the MMIM SAS interface, just as they do for other clinical research data."
