Telstra has revealed the addition of almost one million new mobile services in the six months to December 2011, but Sensis revenues plummeted 24 percent in 12 months.
The service, AdamTalk, is available only to customers of its broadband Internet access service and is presently targeted at residential customers, although the company says it is developing a VoIP package suitable for business which will be launched before the end of the year.
The residential service offers untimed local and STD calls for 12 cents, accessed via either a softphone, analogue telephone adaptor or VoIP enabled ADSL modem. The service is charged at $5 per month with $5 call credit (for standard local and national calls) with a minimum contract term of three months. Calls to other AdamTalk customers are free. The website gave no indication of the cost of calls to mobiles, nor of international calls. For the latter, it said: "International calls subject to fluctuation, with prices adjusted monthly in accordance with trends," and users were invited to insert the overseas number to find the current rate to that country.
Adam Internet managing director, Scott Hicks, said ISPhone was chosen as the wholesale provider because it is the only national provider with a dedicated point of presence in Adelaide.
