Telstra has revealed the addition of almost one million new mobile services in the six months to December 2011, but Sensis revenues plummeted 24 percent in 12 months.
Just a month after Netcomm launched its combined router and WiFi access point with 3G broadband Internet access, Billion has upped the ante with a unit that also includes an ADSL+ modem.
The Billion BiPAC 7300GX, which will retail for $269, is claimed to be an Australian first. It comes with four ethernet ports, 802.11g wireless networking, and ADSL2+ modem and a PCMCIA slot to accept a broadband wireless card for use on cellar networks. It is supplied with both a mains power pack and 12V car charger. Billion routers are sold through a national network that includes Westan Australia and Harris Technology.
The Netcomm N3G001W 3G also includes a WiFi access point and PCMCIA for a 3G card, but has only two ethernet ports: one for local area network and one for connection to an ADSL modem or other wide area network, but it sells for only $229. Netcomm bills the N3G001W 3G as the first product from its new range of 3G products. So a counter to the Billion unit is almost certainly on the cards.
