Business IT - Technology

Western Digital will ship the RAID edition of its 750G hard drive this month.

Priced at $A429, the WD RE2 features a 3Gbps transfer rate, a 16M cache, and native command queuing (NCQ).

"WD has continued to leverage its extensive experience from previous RAID Edition drives, to develop a hard drive perfectly suited for a variety of high-capacity enterprise applications. These drives demand high capacity, reliability, performance and advanced features," said Tom McDorman, vice president and general manager of enterprise storage at Western Digital.

The drive also features Western Digital's technologies for reduced power consumption, noise and vibration, plus improved shock resistance and performance.

A 1.2 million hour mean time to failure is claimed when the drive is used with a high duty cycle.
